A couple of months ago I won a $100 voucher to the Fat Quarter Shop from the Know Thy Machine blog hop at 13 Woodhouse Road. After just a little squealing I window shopped. And window shopped. And window shopped a little more. After Christmas, I finally pulled the trigger and went practical.

Well, mostly practical anyway. I’ve been wanting a triangle ruler for ages, and was tossing up between this or a couple of the EZ ones, but this one goes up to 12.5″ finished and does both 60 and 45 degree triangles. Sold. And throw in a Dresden ruler because every quilter needs one, right?! My love for Art Gallery Fabrics is no secret, so it was time to add some Pure Elements solids to the mix. And a little bit of green Lillybelle just coz I could do with some more green! Finally, I miss being able to pick up a quilting magazine or two now and then, so why not pick up one? The fact that it has a feature story on Thomas Knauer, with whom I have a mild academic crush on*, helped the cause.
By the way, all this arrived in a big box full of brown paper to protect the rulers. And not a single crack, fracture or chip!
*My background is in teaching and I have a Masters of Gifted Education on pause while I’m in Japan. His essays on creativity have me a-swooning!
