New Pattern: Tea For Two + Giveaway


I'd like to introduce you to Tea For Two! Believe it or not, this pattern was inspired by a manhole cover here in Japan! Only I made it much prettier. 


The pattern includes instructions to make 4 different size options with 15 full pages of photos, diagrams and colouring templates for you to work out your fabric placement. The quilt is made up of four different blocks that use 2.5" strips, making it perfect for a jelly roll. You only need 1 jelly roll of prints to make up to a twin size quilt.


Tea For Two is now available in my Craftsy store!


The amazing Jess from The Elven Garden tested the pattern for me and made an absolutely beautiful lap size quilt in Denyse Schmidt! I'd like to thank her and my two other proof readers - Kristy and Gemma - for helping me get this pattern ready. It's my first full size quilt pattern and I couldn't have done it without them!

  7. That is brilliant! I would use purple and gold on a white background, for my nephew at Tennessee Tech! I would pair a set of two "T"'s in the same fabric to represent the double-T for Tenn Tech. Awesome pattern!

  11. Great pattern and impetus for it! My family and i take photos of manholes, mailboxes and iron gates everywhere we are. Have some nice ones from Korea too. For this pattern, I'd go scrappy and stashy, using a palette like lilac, gold, grey, or possible indigo, peach and red. Not sure about the background, if I would stay white or use many different whites/off whites.

  37. I absolutely love that pattern Alyce. In some ways it is simple, and in other very complicated. Either way, very effective. I would love to make it with a jelly roll of Daisy Cottage that I have.

  41. What a fun quilt. I would use either Me and My Sister "Dilly Dally" or "Twirl". I think those would make a great quilt with lots of color of with either of those fabrics.

  45. I believe it when you say you were inspired by a manhole cover! I read an article recently about gorgeous manhole covers in Japan and was jealous that we don't have anything like that. lol It would definitely brighten up the street!

    Let's see... I have no idea what fabric line I would use but it would be a great chance to go shopping on the Fat Quarter Shop's website! ;)

  49. Great quilt! I think it would be perfect for using up some of my stash for the t's. Like the white background but with 3 girls that insist that all furniture belongs to them (our house is an indoor/outdoor with living area open to the backyard) there is no chance that it would stay clean for even a day.

  52. I would use fabrics I have on hand, not one collection. My son has a friend who likes soft pink, turquoise, and white so I would use that color combo. Fun pattern and good for you finding inspiration everywhere!! If I remember correctly your fast herringbone pattern was inspired by a side walk and now a manhole!! Living in Japan has it benefits!!

  59. Alyce - this is just amazing. You are so talented! Would love to see a photo of the manhole - how odd shaped. Congrats on the pattern - you are on fire atm girl!

    I am totally loving the DS range that Jess used in her test quilt.

    I would be tempted to crack open my little stash of Oh La La by Michael Miller - the bright colours would work really well I think.

  70. This is such a lovely quilt Alyce! I have at least 6 jelly rolls that need to be used this year - any of them would look great in your design (though I think Salt Air and Little Apples would be my first two choices!).

    I think they go well together, since I thought it was a maize originally. lol

  101. This is a great pattern, as I was reading I was thinking it would be a great way to use up some of my stash. I only have three 110 litre plastic boxes full of fat quarters so I might need to buy a bit to finish it. :D (at least that is what I would tell my husband!!)
